The Monday Practice Plan
Know what to
practice this week.
A free weekly drum practice plan for beginners and anyone getting back into playing. Learn to read rhythms, build your technique, and put it all into music.
- Every Monday
- Five short sessions
- About 20 minutes a day
You can start with a practice pad and sticks. I'll give you a clear place to begin and something specific to work on each day.

Build a musical foundation
Read it. Hear it. Play it.
Understand the rhythm.
Learn note values, counting, and drum notation so you can use your books and follow a chart.
Build your hands and time.
Use short, focused sessions to develop relaxed technique, steady time, and coordination.
Connect it to songs.
Listen, learn grooves, and record your playing so you can hear what is improving.
Your teacher
Experience behind the plan.
I've been playing drums since 1980, studied at Berklee, and played and toured with When In Rome II, Silver Needle, The Charms, Chemical Burn, and Flexie. My work includes more than fifteen recordings.
I've taught in Boston, Los Angeles, and online. These plans bring that experience into a practice routine you can use at home.
