Playing a slow heavy groove
As part of an ongoing effort, I will post recordings of different grooves, fills, song transcriptions and solos. This is just a simple example of playing a slow, stripped down rock beat and building on that. The time isn’t completely perfect, as it was a first take. But I wanted to post something tonight to test out my gear and see how plausible this would be. I will probably replace this mp3 with a better one in the next few days. But it gets the basic idea across, which is just that laying way back behind the beat and adding some syncopation, can really pull the listener in and support the artist in a way that makes them feel good (if the track calls for that).
